July 4th fireworks leads to criminal charge after man pulls gun on Rock Rimmon revelers

MANCHESTER, NH –Michael Flannery, 52, was arrested on the Fourth of July after allegedly threatening a man with a gun over setting off fireworks.

On July 4th at approximately 9:47 p.m., Officer Lisa Callahan responded to Rock Rimmon Park for a criminal threat complaint involving a firearm. Officer Callahan spoke with the alleged victim, Nicholas Barna, 40, of Manchester.

Barna told the officer that he was with a group of friends igniting fireworks from the top of Rock Rimmon. Barna was approached by a man using a flashlight to illuminate the area. The man, later identified as Flannery, told Barna that fireworks are illegal in Manchester. Barna reported that a verbal argument ensued, resulting in Flannery removing a firearm holstered on his hip. Flannery reportedly threatened Barna by pointing the gun at him and stating that he would kill him.

Subsequent investigation led to Flannery’s arrest for Felony Criminal Threatening. Michael Flannery will be arraigned on July 5th in the 9th Circuit District Manchester for criminal threat (felony).
