Wanted man Tasered after he tries to grab officer’s gun

Police say Tyler Twombly also had a gun in his waistband.

MANCHESTER, NH –On May 30, 2017 at about 4:18 p.m. Officer Matthew McDonald was in the area of Hillsboro Market when he observed Tyler Twombly, 32,  in the area. Twombly is a former “Fugitive of the Week” and has had several run-ins with law enforcement. Officer McDonald was familiar with Twombly and was aware that he had an active warrant from Concord Police.

Officer McDonald approached and attempted to arrest Twombly, who began to resist Officer McDonald. While Officer McDonald was attempting to gain control of Twombly he felt him grabbing at his holstered firearm in an attempt to remove it. Officer McDonald continued to struggle with Twombly until Officer Finn arrived to assist. Upon his arrival Officer Finn saw that Twombly had a firearm tucked in his waistband and was trying to retrieve it. Officer Finn was able to knock Twombly to the ground and pinned his hand, preventing Twombly from drawing the firearm. Officer Bates arrived and also assisted.

Twombly was Tasered before he was able to be placed into custody. The firearm recovered was reported stolen from Auburn.

Twombly was found also to be in possession of controlled substances and was charged with resisting arrest, taking of law enforcement officer’s firearm, criminal threatening, felon in possession of firearm, possession of a controlled drug, in addition to the original warrants from Concord Police.
