MANCHESTER, NH – On May 30, 2017 at about 7:30 p.m. Officer Derek Cataldo was on patrol in the area of Hudson and Knowlton streets when he observed a silver Honda Civic operated by Hollins Sylvain, 24, of Manchester. Officer Cataldo knew that Sylvain had a suspended license due to his status as a habitual offender.

When Officer Cataldo attempted to stop the vehicle it fled at a high rate of speed south on Knowlton Street. Officer Cataldo discontinued the pursuit due to the speed, however he saw that the vehicle lost control and crashed at the dead-end of Knowlton Street. The vehicle came to rest in a yard, and Sylvain fled the scene on foot.

Officer Cataldo coordinated the response of additional units and a perimeter was established, eventually locating Sylvain running through yards in the Somerville Street area where he was taken into custody and charged with reckless conduct, criminal mischief, conduct after an accident, disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, operating after suspension, and habitual offender.
