MANCHESTER, NH – Phase two of the award-winning Envy Sports Club & Cafe in Manchester celebrates its grand opening with a Battle of the Branches basketball tournament at the new Envy Sportsplex indoor sports center.
A renovation of the former Hesser College gymnasium, Envy Sportsplex is located just a half mile from Envy’s flagship Queen City Avenue location, across the Queen City Bridge at 3 Sundial Avenue. Envy Sports Club & Café owner Savino J. Auciello expanded his original fitness center’s offerings to the Sportsplex to include basketball, volleyball, pickle ball, an indoor wiffle ball park, adult sports leagues, sports camps, birthday parties, private rentals and tournaments.
To celebrate the grand opening of Envy Sportsplex, Auciello, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, is organizing a Battle of the Branches basketball tournament on Saturday, June 3 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., inspiring some friendly on-court competition between branches of the U.S. military, and benefiting local veteran organizations.
“As a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, it’s important to me to open our doors to local heroes and encourage fitness, fun, and friendly competition, while supporting charities that assist local veterans,” said Auciello.
The full-court basketball tournament will feature five teams, comprised of the five branches of the military, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. The five-on-five basketball tournament allows 10 military members per team to play full-court basketball beginning at 11:30 a.m. All tournament players receive a free one-month membership to Envy Sports Club & Café as a thank you for their participation. Interested active duty and veteran members of the military can sign on to play for their branch’s team at www.envysportsclubs.com/envysportsplexleagues-sports-social .
The player registration fee is $5 per player, as is admission for attendees, family and friends. Children age 10 and under are free. Proceeds will benefit Easterseals New Hampshire’s veteran support program, Veterans Count.
Beyond the Battle of the Branches tournament, the grand opening celebration includes raffles for prizes to local businesses, vendor tables, giveaways and a raffle to compete in a half-time three-point shot contest and half-court shot contest, with prizes up to $1,000 in value.
