MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Community Schools Project, in collaboration with QC Bike Collective and the Beech Street Elementary School, has created an Earn-A-Bike Program for elementary school children who demonstrate leadership skills associated with the school-wide implementation of a leadership curriculum known as Dovetail Toolbox.
Approximately 90 fifth-grade students will receive a bike package (refurbished bike, helmet, light, and lock) for completing the following leadership items based on the school rules :
Be Respectful: participate in at least 3 City Year led activities at recess;
Be Responsible: complete a project demonstrating how they use one or more of the Dovetail Tools to be healthy;
Be Caring: write an thank you letter or card to QC Bike Collective;
Be Safe: attend a bike safety workshop;
Be Proud: participate in a school clean-up event.
The bike packages will be distributed at a Neighborhood Block Party event. The Earn-A-Bike Program and the Block Party have been generously funded by the Granite United Way.
