Socrates A. Merisotis, 91: Proud Greek and Navy veteran, 50 years of service to Manchester Housing Authority

MANCHESTER, NH – Socrates A. Merisotis, 91, of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Villa Crest Nursing & Retirement, in Manchester.

Mr. Merisotis was born on April 15, 1926, in Derry, NH the son of the late Anastasios and Athena (Stephanis) Merisotis. He grew up in Derry, NH.

Soc was married to Evdoxia “Dot” Merisotis, on September 18, 1949.

He was a veteran and served in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s Mate during World War II.

He worked at Manchester Housing Authority for over 50 years as a maintenance foreman, before retiring in 1988.

Soc enjoyed watching horse racing, and being at the seashore. He also enjoyed talking with people and was very proud to be Greek. He was a member of the D.A.V.

Members of his family include; his wife, Evdoxia “Dot” Merisotis, of Manchester; a son, William and his wife Joanne, a daughter, Pamela and her husband, Karl Savage, and a granddaughter, Kim Savage.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2-5 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. The Trisagion service will be held at 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 650 Hanover Street, in Manchester. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Manchester.
