MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell again on Friday night to the Portland Sea Dogs, this time by a score of 11-5.
Portland received home runs from Joey Curletta in the second, Tate Matheny in the ninth and Jerry Downs as the capstone to a six-run fifth inning.
Curletta also added a double, finishing with three RBI for the night. Matheny also had three RBI and scored twice for Portland, with Downs also knocking in two runs and scoring on the homer.
C.J Chatham contributed a pair of hits for Portland, scoring twice and driving home a run.
Although it may not have been as impressive as the Sea Dogs’ offensive output, every Fisher Cat except for Riley Adams had at least one hit, with Chad Spanberger ending with two.
Forrest Wall drove in two of the Fisher Cats five runs in the loss.
On the mound, Justin Dillon (1-2) was the loser for the Fisher Cats, allowing eight runs off 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched.
Matthew Kent (4-2) was the winner for Portland, his second win in as many weeks over New Hampshire. Kent gave up three runs off nine hits in six innings of work, striking out six.
Adam Lau pitched part of the eighth and the ninth to earn his sixth save of the year.
The two teams return to conclude the series with contests on Saturday (7:05 p.m.) and Sunday (1:35 p.m.)
