MANCHESTER, NH – The city’s Parks and Recreation Department announces the planned $2.9 million Derryfield Country Club drainage project is underway, and work has been awarded to a company from Nebraska.
The public golf course will be undergoing a comprehensive improvement project focusing on drainage issues on the five lower holes, which cause the areas to become unplayable after heavy rains.
Project improvements include:
- Cart path network
- Increases and improvements to the irrigation system
- New construction of two greens
- Redefining some fairways.
All of these improvements are aimed at increasing playability and the overall golf experience, according to the city’s Derryfield Country Club site. Major construction will take place during the entire 2015 golf season and only nine holes will be available for play. Landscapes Unlimited from Lincoln, Ne., the low-bidder at $2,917,000, will be working on the project, a company experienced in golf course construction and renovation, according to their website.
There were two other bids, from NMP Golf of Minnesota for $3,054,779, and Duininck Golf of Texas, at $3,283,000.
Due to possible disruptions and limited holes discounted rates for the 2015 rates have been announced. They reflect a 17 percent discount from usual fees, according to the city’s Recreation Enterprise Manager, Andy Vachon:
