Comics Arts is a medium that can change the world. All too often this medium is confused with genre; regulating it to the spinner racks of society’s child hood, with our collective dreams of donning a cape and mask to fight the injustices of the world, but comics have proven to be more. Comics have been an essential tool in shaping the world’s narrative landscape and ideas. This exhibition is intended to educate our audience on the relevance of comic arts to societies, cultures and contributions to the creative industries and broader markets; it will also demonstrate to students, faculty and staff the possibilities available to comic artists with examples of non-fiction, memoir, political and fiction comics and graphic novels. Possibilities: Comic Arts is not a Genre is intended to show the breadth of opportunities and manifestations of comic arts as a medium from main-stream to self-publishing.
