Mercedes driver flees 2-vehicle Union Street crash that pushed SUV into building; 2 injured

MANCHESTER, NH – A two-car crash late Wednesday night resulted in two people injured and damage to a building that houses a Union Street community bike outreach. One of the driver’s fled the scene before police arrived.

Screen Shot 2017 03 30 at 8.16.39 AMJust before 11 p.m. Manchester Police Officer Meghan Grant was dispatched to the scene after two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Union and Spruce streets March 29. The two vehicles, a 2005 Honda Pilot and a 2000 Mercedes-Benz, were heavily damaged. The Honda Pilot had been traveling east on Spruce Street when the Mercedes-Benz crashed into it as it traveled north on Union Street. The crash propelled the Honda onto the sidewalk and into the building at 373 Union St., occupied by QC Bike Collective, a community bicycle repair and resale initiative.

According to witnesses, the driver of the Mercedez-Benz fled the scene prior to police arriving. Two of the three persons in the Honda Pilot requested medical attention as a precaution and were taken to local area hospitals.
