Man with stolen gun charged with kidnapping, criminal threatening, in domestic

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to 14 Orange Street at 7:10 a.m. March 15 in search of a man accused of assaulting and threatening his girlfriend over the last several days, including stabbing her and holding her against her will.

Sheldon Grant, 34, of Nashua, was taken into custody just before 9 a.m. by police on March 15. He was charged with kidnapping, two counts of criminal threatening (felony); felon in possession of a firearm; receiving stolen property; two counts resisting arrest/detention and preventative detention.

Police became involved with his girlfriend, 36, came to police to report she had allegedly been assaulted by Grant with a knife on March 12 as they drove form Manchester to Nashua, and that he physically abused her throughout the night on March 14, holding her against her will, slamming her into a wall and threatening her with a handgun. The woman told police she slipped out of the Orange Street apartment after Grant fell asleep to report the incident.

Detectives spoke with the victim and noted multiple facial injuries, so officers responded to the apartment and placed Grant into custody after a brief struggle. Officers located a stolen .45 caliber handgun inside of the apartment.

He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on March 16.
