MANCHESTER, NH – Dillon Coleman, 23, of Derry, was arrested Feb. 21 after assaulting an officer called on to remove him from a local bar for disorderly conduct, police said.

According to a police narrative, Officer Mark Aquino was patrolling the area of Elm and Lowell streets at 12:30 a.m. on February 21 when he was flagged down by a manager at McGarvey’s Pub, 1097 Elm Street.

The manager, Justin Murphy, advised the officer of a disorderly patron who was refusing to leave the establishment.

Officer Aquino observed the disorderly patron, later identified as Coleman, inside of McGarvey’s. Officer Aquino explained to Coleman the manager wanted him removed from the bar, so he asked him to vacate the establishment.

Coleman got up and walked toward Lowell Street. Instead of leaving the area, he allegedly stopped in the middle of the street and began yelling profanities at Officer Aquino, who attempted to get Coleman to return so he could take him into custody for disorderly conduct. Coleman allegedly turned and abruptly walked in the opposite direction, defying Officer Aquino’s request, police said.

Officer Aquino ran toward Coleman and advised him he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Coleman began struggling with Officer Aquino and allegedly struck him in the face as he was placed into custody. The two men fell to the ground and Coleman was ultimately handcuffed and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with resisting arrest/detention, disorderly conduct and simple assault. He will appear in the 9th Circuit Court in Manchester on Feb. 22.
