MANCHESTER, NH – Authorities have begun searching a home on Hayward Street where they hope to find evidence that will resolve a 35-year-old missing person case.
On Tuesday the FBI was at 925 Hayward St., along with other law enforcement officials, to begin the search, which the NH Attorney General’s office said could span several days. Two portable toilets were also delivered to the address.
Tuesday morning construction sounds were emanating from the basement, including a loud “bang” followed by the buzzing of power tools, as detectives were visible entering the house through a back porch dressed in protective suits and breathing filtration masks.
The search is focused on the disappearance of Manchester resident Denise Beaudin, who was last seen by her family in December of 1981. Beaudin’s boyfriend at the time, Robert Evans, resided at the Hayward Street residence.
According to the NH Attorney General’s office, “new information” came to light in December regarding Beaudin’s disappearance. Based on that information, a missing person report was generated and Beaudin’s name was added to NCIC (National Crime Information Center) as a missing person.
Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Strelzin said in December that authorities knew Evans’ whereabouts, but no other information was released as to his connection to the reinvigorated interest in the case.
