City man leads police on chase in stolen car, crashes into 2 parked cars

MANCHESTER, NH – Kevin Gearhart 49, of 452 Pine St. in Manchester, was arrested Jan. 16, charged with speeding through the city in a stolen car.

On January 16, 2015 at about 1 a.m. Manchester Police Sgt. Allen Aldenberg observed a vehicle traveling on Merrimack Street at a high rate of speed. He began to pursue the vehicle with his emergency lights and sirens, but the vehicle did  not stop and a short pursuit followed.

The vehicle began operating erratically through several neighborhoods in the inner city area, and Officer Aldenberg terminated the pursuit. Other officers in the area then observed the vehicle crash into a parked car in the area of 321 Wilson St. and another vehicle at 325 Hall St. before finally stopping.

The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Boston.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gearhart, who was arrested for unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle; conduct after an accident; disobeying a police officer, and reckless operation.
