MANCHESTER, NH – Three men were arrested March 28, charged with possession of a trash bag full of marijuana, with a street value $6,000-9,000, and a handgun.
Manchester Police Officer Robert Megowen conducted a motor vehicle stop at approximately 1:40 a.m. in the area of Citizen’s Bank after he observed the driver of a black Chevy Suburban, Mikhail Zvonarev, 24, of Manchester, fail to use a turn signal.
Officer Megowen approached the driver and immediately detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
The front seat passenger, Nawid Mohamad, 21, of Manchester, identified himself as the owner of the sports utility vehicle and granted consent to search his vehicle as additional officers arrived on scene.
Officer Robert Bifsha noticed a large trash bag containing a green vegetative matter next to the rear seat passenger, who was identified as Jason Lavigne, 25, of Manchester. The large trash bag which contained 3 pounds of marijuana was taken into evidence. It has an estimated street value of $6-9,000, police said.
Officer Megowen and his K-9 partner Lynk located a 9mm handgun inside the vehicle, next to Mohamad. The three men were arrested and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Zvonarev was charged with transportation of controlled drug and possession with intent to sell. He appeared in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on March 28, 2016. Mohamad was charged with felonious use of a firearm, carrying without a license and possession with intent to sell. Lavigne was charged with possession with intent to sell and contempt of court for missing a recent court date for a separate offense.
Both Mohamad and Lavigne are scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on April 7, 2016. Mohamad was released on $2,000 cash/surety bail and Lavigne was released on $12,000 cash/surety bail.
