Police investigate 3 shootings Sunday on the West Side

MANCHESTER, NH – Police are investigating three shootings which occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday September 4.

Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 12.52.03 PMIn the first incident at approximately 3:16 a.m., numerous callers reported hearing gunshots in the area of Putnam and Cumberland streets. During the course of the investigation, officers spoke to witnesses who reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a black pickup truck flee the area. Residents of a Cumberland Street address located evidence of their house and fence being struck by several rounds.

Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 12.53.00 PMIn the second incident at approximately 3:54 a.m., officers responded to the area of Prince and B streets for multiple calls of gunshots heard. Responding officers located two shell casings in the roadway on Prince Street. Witnesses reported hearing a vehicle speed away from the area, but were unable to provide a description.

In a third incident, at approximately 7:40 a.m., police were called to the area of Douglas Street Extension and Thibault Field, where a man walking his dog located several casings in the roadway. Detectives spoke with neighbors in the area and learned that several gunshots were heard shortly after 12:30 a.m., but were not reported at that time.

Detectives processed the scene and did not locate any property damage. Two of the shootings are considered drive-by shootings. No reports of a vehicle being involved were made, according to Sgt. Michael Biron.

Detectives continue to investigate. At this time, there is no known correlation between these incidents.
