MANCHESTER, NH — Fugitive sex offender, William Soltan, 33, was arrested on May 6 by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Shirley, NY. Soltan is a Tier II sex offender and is required to register for life while living in New Hampshire. Soltan was originally convicted of two counts of felonious sexual assault on a child between 13 and 16 years of age. In 2011, at the time of the offense, Soltan was approximately 29 years old and his victim was age 14.
Soltan had been wanted on an arrest warrant issued on January 7, 2015 by the Manchester Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender. Soltan was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on April 5, 2016. The next day, information was received from an anonymous tipster pointing to New York which led to the location and arrest of Soltan. He will be held in custody in New York, pending his return to New Hampshire on his outstanding arrest warrant.

This program has been a remarkably successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007.
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 6,340 arrests. These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, seven regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
