BEDFORD, NH – At approximately 6:15 p.m. April 30, NH State Police – Troop B received multiple reports of a serious motor vehicle accident on the F.E. Everett Turnpike South at the Bedford Toll Plaza. Witnesses reported that a vehicle struck the cement barrier at the entrance of the toll booth and rolled several times, ejecting the operator.

Responding Troopers determined this to be a single-car crash involving a 2004 silver Saab sedan being driven by Zachary Mattson, 22, of Manchester. He was the sole occupant of the car.

Three lanes of the F.E. Everett Turnpike were closed for several hours due to the collision investigation.  Troopers were assisted by the Bedford Fire Department and the Department of Transportation (DOT).

The preliminary investigation shows that speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash, however all aspects of the crash continue to be investigated by NH State Police Troop B. Should you have any information pertaining to this incident please contact Trooper E. Torrens at 603-223-3622 or email him at Eric.Torrens@dos.nh.gov.
