This summer the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce will expand its popular “Lunch in the Park” from three days to eight days over a two month period. Manchester Police Chief David Mara, Mayor Ted Gatsas, and Chamber President Michael Skelton will kick off the event with a news conference on Thursday, July 10
at 11:30 a.m. at the entrance to Veterans Park on Elm Street across from the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center.
“Lunch in the Park” encourages downtown employees, business owners, property owners, residents, and other stakeholders to have lunch in the park from 12 noon to 2 p.m.m on Thursdays beginning Thursday, July 10 and concluding on August 28.
The program is an initiative of the Chamber’s Downtown Committee in partnership with the City of Manchester Parks and Recreation Division aimed at increasing positive usage of downtown’s most prominent park.
“Veterans Park, which faces an array of challenges, is often the first impression visitors get when they come to downtown Manchester and we want to make sure that impression is a good one,” said Michael Skelton, President & CEO of the Greater
Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Lunch in the Park participants are encouraged to use Door to Door Delivery’s website, to pre-order their lunch from participating restaurants and have it delivered directly to the park. Participants can also bring a brown bag lunch from home or a nearby restaurant. While the program itself will be largely unstructured, networking will
be encouraged and recorded music will be provided.
Lunch in the Park is supported by a number of corporate sponsors including:
- Manchester Community College – Downtown,
- Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Centrix Bank
- Pembroke Building Luxury Apartments
- Verizon Wireless Arena
