Snow emergency: No overnight parking on city streets Dec. 9-10

Overnight parking is banned during a winter snow emergency.

MANCHESTER, NH – The Public Works Director has declared a Snow Emergency in effect from 10 p.m. Dec. 9 until 6 a.m. Dec. 10, 2017.

Upon declaration of a Snow Emergency, any vehicle parked on the streets will be towed and impounded. Look for the blinking strobe lights placed at various intersections throughout the City or call the Highway Department at 603-624-6444 with any questions

Snow Emergency parking is available at:

• Victory Parking Garage at 25 Vine Street between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Vehicles parking outside these times will be subject to parking fees of $.75 per hour.

• Pearl Street Parking Lot on Orange Street between Elm and Chestnut is also available between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Unauthorized vehicles in the lot outside of these times will be subject to parking tickets.

Vehicles that are impounded will be stored at the City’s Vehicle Impoundment Area, located in Derryfield Park off of Bridge Street. In order to recover an impounded vehicle, the owner will be required to present proof of ownership and make a payment of $110 in cash. This must be done within 24 hours of the time when the vehicle was towed. Vehicles not recovered within 24 hours will be subject to additional towing and storage charges.

Important Winter Parking rules to know in Manchester

To facilitate snow removal and emergency vehicle access, special parking restrictions are in effect from December 1 through April 15, and at any time of the year when a snow emergency is declared.

Overnight Odd/Even Parking Restrictions

Overnight parking restrictions, in effect from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day, commencing December 1 of each year and last through April 15.  Please note the following rules:

  • Where parking is normally allowed on both sides of the street, parking is permitted only on the even-numbered side of the street during even-numbered months (i.e., December and February) and only on the odd-numbered side of the street during odd-numbered months (i.e., January and March)
  • Where parking is normally allowed only on one side of the street, parking continues to be allowed on that side every night (i.e., there are no overnight restrictions)
