One crime leads to another: Police arrest a man on theft charges while looking for a purse-snatcher

MANCHESTER, NH – Police arrested Derek Gagne, 28, of Manchester, charged in a theft incident.

On May 29,2017 at approximately 12:45 p.m.officers were in the area of Pine and Concord streets checking the area for a suspect related to a purse snatching that had just occurred on Elm Street by Concord Street. While in the area they observed a manrunning after another man, later identified as Gagne.Officers believed this was the suspect from the purse-snatching. Officers were able to stop both people running and speak with them.

Officers learned the that the men were involved in a separatetheft that had just occurred in which the victimhad not yet called the police.

The victim reported that Gagne took money from his vehicle after they hadgiven him a ride. Gagnetook off running and the victim chased him, and that’s when the police saw the two men running.Gagne was charged with felony level theft by unauthorized taking.
