Bomb scare: Goodwill evacuated after grenade discovered in clothing bag

HOOKSETT, NH — On September 19 at 2:47 p.m., officers from the Hooksett Police Department responded to the Goodwill Store and Donation Center, located at 1292 Hooksett Road, for a report of a hand grenade found in a clothing bag.

Police  were able to view the device and determine that it was an old smoke grenade that had already been detonated. They possession of the device and transferred it to the New Hampshire State Police; Explosive Division for disposal. At no time were any members of the public in danger.

The store and adjacent stores were evacuated and customers and workers were moved to the parking lot near the Dunkin Donuts while the parking lot was blocked off to prevent traffic from entering.
