CONCORD, NH – Rosemary Wiant was recently named Director of the Division of Administration and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the New Hampshire Liquor Commission. In this role, Wiant is responsible for all financial operations, grants management, information technology operations, and general administrative support operations.

Wiant also serves as NHLC’s liaison to state entities, such as the Executive Council, Legislature, and Office of the Governor. Wiant has been with NHLC since 2017, previously serving as legal counsel. She was confirmed by the New Hampshire Executive Council on Wednesday, February 6, and was sworn in on Thursday, February 14. She is replacing Daniel St. Hilaire, who left the post in Nov. 2018 and was confirmed in December by Gov. Chris Sununu as a superior court judge.

“Highlighted by her extensive and diverse law experience, Rosemary is exceedingly qualified to oversee the NHLC Division of Administration,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica. “Her work as NHLC’s legal counsel, coupled with her time with the Department of Justice and the Banking Department, has more than confirmed her dedication to serving the State. NHLC is pleased and fortunate to welcome her into this new role as Director of Administration and COO.”

In her new role Wiant is responsible for ensuring agency wide oversight of budget control, efficient operations, information technology, government and legislative relations. Wiant will work closely with other divisions to strategize and implement programs in order to carry out the mission and goals of NHLC, while maintaining compliance with state, federal and local laws, including New Hampshire Statutes and NHLC administrative rules.

“I have dedicated my legal career to public service, first by working on behalf of persons with disabilities and, since 2007, by working on behalf of the State and its citizens. I feel I am well-equipped and prepared to step into this new role and I am especially grateful for the chance to continue serving NHLC and the State,” Wiant said. “NHLC works diligently to generate revenue for the New Hampshire General Fund, which helps fund critical services, and to educate the public on responsible enjoyment. As Director of Administration and COO, I look forward to continuing to support these missions for the benefit of the people of New Hampshire.”

After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies at West Virginia University, Wiant worked in marketing research and finance. After receiving her law degree at Franklin Pierce Law Center (now UNH School of Law), Wiant began her legal career in New Hampshire as a staff attorney with the Disabilities Rights Center in Concord and later transitioned to state service, serving as Assistant Attorney General for the New Hampshire Department of Justice from October 2007 until June 2015.
