MANCHESTER, NH — On January 8, 2017, at approximately 10:50 a.m., police were dispatched to 58 Nashua St. for a report of a suspicious man walking around the area. The initial caller indicated that they heard a window smashing shortly after the man walked around the residence.

The man, later identified as Sean Varney, 30, of Manchester, was then seen leaving the residence just prior to officers arrival carrying a flat screen TV.  Officers were able to track Varney down in the area of 246 E. High St. In checking adjacent entrances officers were able to locate the stolen TV in the stairwell of 242 E. High St.

Officers also learned that Varney had kicked in the door to 56 Nashua St., where he stole a bottle of wine from the refrigerator, and drank half of it in the basement of that address before heading to 58 Nashua St.

Varney was charged with two counts of burglary and falsifying physical evidence, and will be arraigned January 9.

Varney was also charged with an attempted burglary from Jan. 7 in connection with an incident at 400 Hall St., where he tried the front door and then every window while the homeowner watched from within while on the phone with a 911 call taker.
