MANCHESTER, NH – The school district’s former driver’s education instructor, Michael Dubisz, 55, of 14 Morse Drive, Hooksett, has been indicted by a grand jury on a felony charge of theft by deception.
According to the indictment for nearly a year, Dubisz “failed to deliver or deposit over $10,000 in cash that he received from the students as payment for the program to the Manchester School District”
The Union Leader reports that Dubisz is accused of stealing in total about $12,000, according to Assistant County Attorney Rose-Marie Balboni.
The Class A felony charge carries a 7 ½-15 year sentence and $4,000 fine.
Last October, Dubisz told a school board committee that the program would finish in the black by about $7,000. Instead, the program ended up in the red by more than $180,000. Dubisz resigned his post following that October meeting.
Dubisz is a former Hooksett school board member who resigned his post in 2013 for personal reasons before completing his term, which would have ended in 2015.
An Internet search of Dubisz shows that he is also listed on the Global Poker Database as a top NH player, ranking 88th. According to his online profile, Dubisz was active as a No Limit Hold’em player between December 2011 and August of 2014.
