MANCHESTER, NH – Here comes the sun-powered energy.

SolarCity, a California-based solar power provider, is opening a Manchester headquarters and is ready to make an offer that sounds hard to refuse: They say they will install solar with no upfront cost and you will pay less for solar electricity than what you’re currently paying, even without including local incentives.

The company’s pitch says Hampshire homeowners can go solar for as little as $30 per month, with design, installation, financing, insurance, monitoring and a performance guarantee included.

SolarCity began taking orders from New Hampshire residents this week, and expects to begin installing its first customers in June. The company will accommodate customers on a first-come, first-served basis. SolarCity’s service will initially be available to customers of Eversource and Unitil Energy Systems. New Hampshire is the 17th state where SolarCity has begun offering service and the third in New England, joining Massachusetts and Connecticut.

According to the SolarCity website, the company offers a low-interest loan that is paid off based on your monthly solar production. The loan is paid off  based on the electricity your system produces.

The $0 down system allows homeowners to pay as they go rather than invest upfront in a costly solar system.

“I want to take this opportunity to welcome SolarCity to the Granite State,” said U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H. “This announcement means that good jobs are coming to New Hampshire in an important and growing industry. SolarCity is a great addition to New Hampshire’s diverse and innovative alternative energy sector that is creating jobs and saving consumers money, all while helping the environment.”

SolarCity has started posting local job openings on its website. Candidates interested in employment opportunities in New Hampshire can review available positions and contact SolarCity directly via its online jobs form at www.solarcity.com/jobs.

Area homeowners interested in SolarCity’s services can visit SolarCity online, or contact the company directly at 1-888-SOL-CITY (1-888-765-2489) for a free, no-obligation solar consultation.
