HOOKSETT, NH – On July 8, 2017 Officer Erin Minihan responded to the Target parking lot for a report of a dog left in a vehicle. Upon arrival Officer Minihan located the vehicle with a Labrador Shar Pei mix and the owners had returned to the vehicle. Officer Minihan observed the back windows open only about 2 inches. The temperature outside at the time was 84 degrees. Officer Minihan spoke with the owner who admitted to leaving the dog in the vehicle and Officer Minihan observed the dog, which appeared to be in distress, panting extremely heavily.

After further investigation it was determined that the dog had been left in the vehicle, which was not running, for 30 minutes. Due to the duration and outside temperature at the time it was determined that the owner of the dog Gwen Blumberg, 28, of Marlborough, Mass., was to be charged with animal cruelty.

She was booked processed and released without incident. She was bailed on $2,000 personal recognizance with a court date of Aug. 9, 2017, at the 6th Circuit Court Hooksett. The dog was hydrated and cared for prior to Officers clearing the call.
