Veteran attorneys to lead Shaheen & Gordon’s immigration practice group

MANCHESTER, NH – Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. welcomes attorneys Ron Abramson and Emily Assunta White to lead the firm’s Immigration Practice Group.

Abramson and White come to Shaheen & Gordon with deep experience in Immigration Law, including family and individual, business-based, and healthcare immigration. They were most recently partners at abramson Immigration + Solutions pllc, based in Manchester. The two will join Shaheen & Gordon’s Manchester office.

“Helping individuals and businesses better understand changing immigration laws is a real concern in New Hampshire and around the country,” says Shaheen & Gordon President and Managing Director Michael Noonan. “There are few people in this state who understand the issues and laws that affect immigration better than Ron Abramson. He and Emily strengthen our ability to help people and businesses at times when they need it most.”

Abramson has witnessed the state’s foreign-born population almost double to 6.2 percent in the nearly three decades he has been in both private practice and as a member of the New Hampshire Public Defender’s staff. He was appointed by then Gov. John Lynch as New Hampshire’s Commercial Consul to Chile, serving from 2005-2010. Abramson is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Chile.

“As an immigrant myself, I am passionate about the process by which we accept and integrate people from other countries, be they family members, refugees, students, employees, or anyone with something to contribute but who needs help navigating a complex system,” Abramson says.

Abramson has successfully obtained all manner of business and family-based visas, has taught at national training programs, and has litigated federal cases all the way to the U.S. Circuit Courts. He also still selectively accepts criminal cases, especially where immigration-related concerns are involved.

White is a native of New Hampshire who spent more than 10 years in Colorado handling complex removal defense, as well as family and business immigration for two of the state’s leading immigration firms.

She has represented clients before the Immigration Court (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Administrative Appeals Office, and at consulates abroad. In response to growing worksite enforcement actions, White also represents large and small companies in affirmative and defensive I-9 audits.
