Truck racing ends with 2 DUI charges after one driver crashes into a tree, the other drives into a pond

HOOKSETT, NH – Two men were charged with driving while intoxicated after both crashed their trucks in a road racing incident Sunday, one hitting a tree and the other driving into a pond.

On September 10 2017 at 11:20 p.m., Officers from the Hooksett Police Department were dispatched to the area of 68 Auburn Road for a report of a rollover crash. Simultaneously a motor vehicle complaint was received for two pickup trucks racing and driving on the wrong side of the road in that area. Officers arrived on scene and it was determined that there were two pickup trucks off the road. One appeared to have struck a tree and flipped, while the other followed behind and continued into a pond. The operators of each vehicle were identified as Timothy Gagne, 33, of Manchester, and Thomas Pepin, 32, of Hooksett.

After speaking with both Gagne and Pepin, it became apparent that both were under the influence of alcohol. Pepin agreed to take standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. Pepin was transported to the Hooksett Police Department where
he was asked to submit to a breath test. Pepin agreed to take the test which resulted in a .15 BrAC.

Gagne was also arrested but was transported to the Hospital for serious injuries where he agreed to take a blood test. Pepin was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was booked, processed and released on $2,500 Personal Recognizance Bail with a court date of September 20, 2017 at the 6 th Circuit Hooksett Court. Gagne was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and was released at the hospital on $5,000 Personal Recognizance Bail with a court date of September 28, 2017 at the Merrimack County Superior Court.
