MANCHESTER, NH – Timothy Wheeler, 39, of Manchester was arrested April 2 after fleeing from an officer attempting to take him into custody on a parole violation.

At about 3:15 a.m. Officer Matthew O’Connor was patrolling the West Side when he observed a man he recognized Wheeler outside of 7-Eleven, 85 South Main St., and confirmed with dispatch that Wheeler was wanted on a parole violation.

Officer O’Connor approached Wheeler in the parking lot to place him into custody. However, Wheeler immediately fled on foot. Officer O’Connor gave him loud verbal commands to stop, but Wheeler continued to run from him. Officer O’Connor caught up to Wheeler on Dover Street then engaged in a brief struggle. Wheeler momentarily broke his grip and continued to run northerly on Dover Street.

Officer O’Connor deployed his taser, but it had no effect on Wheeler as he continued to run away. Officer O’Connor caught up to him for a second time and struggled with him until additional officers arrived on scene. The officers eventually subdued Wheeler, described by police as combative, and placed him into custody.

Wheeler continued to be loud and boisterous after he was taken into custody even though he was asked several times to quiet down.

Wheeler was charged; with two counts of resisting arrest/detention; disorderly conduct; and parole violation warrant, issued in October 2014. He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on April 2, 2015.
