Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in Amherst Street Shooting

MANCHESTER, NH – New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Manchester Police Chief Enoch F. Willard announce that an arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier today in Manchester, New Hampshire.

At approximately 4:08 a.m. this morning, the Manchester Police Department responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment at 170 Amherst St. in Manchester. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased adult male inside the building. That adult male has been identified as Raymond Drake, 44, of Manchester. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy tomorrow to verify Mr. Drake’s exact cause and manner of death.

Drew Morris, 32, of 170 Amherst St. in Manchester has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder for recklessly causing the death of Raymond Drake under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by shooting him several times with a handgun.

Morris will be arraigned on the murder charge tomorrow morning at the 9th Circuit – District Division Court in Manchester, New Hampshire.
