City man arrested after alleged assault with brick at Maine campground

YORK, Maine – Michael Johnson, 52, of Manchester, was arrested May 12 in York, Maine, charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly struck another man in the head with a brick after an argument turned violent.

Johnson was arrested after police caught up with him as he was driving on Long Beach Avenue after the alleged assault, which police say happened at Libby’s Campground shortly before 1 p.m.

Police say the incident began as an argument that led to a physical altercation involving Johnson and a 67-year-old man. According to police, Johnson struck the man in the head with a brick and then allegedly kicked and punched him while he was on the ground. Johnson allegedly fled the scene in his car.

The victim was treated for serious injuries at  York Hospital.
