Monarchs sign goalie Jeff Lerg to professional try out agreement, eligible for Game 3 action

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed goalie Jeff Lerg to a professional try out agreement (PTO).  He will be available for Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals in Utica on Wednesday, wearing number 45.

Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough made the announcement.

Lerg, 29, started 45 games for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL this season, posting a 2.37 goals against average and .920 save percentage.  He set the franchise record for wins by a goalie, going 32-9-3 in the regular season.  Lerg helped the Walleye to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, where they fell to South Carolina.  The former Michigan State tender went 7-4-4 in the playoffs with a 2.20 goals against average and .924 save percentage.

The Monarchs will face the Comets at the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.  Manchester took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with a 2-1 win in overtime last night.
