MANCHESTER, NH –  Three people were arrested on February 25 just after midnight after multiple 911 calls came in for assistance from a Bowman Street residence. One person was arrested for punching an officer, and two others who tried to stop police from placing that person under arrest were also charged.

Manchester Police responded to 217 Bowman St. Apartment A-1, where they encountered a large group outside the building involved in an altercation, and yelling profanities. Three of the subjects from the group ran into the Bowman Street apartment. Officers attempted to get information from the group outside and inquire about the 911 calls asking for police assistance. The group refused to cooperate.

Officers then went to the apartment where the 911 call originated. Officers noticed blood on the door and could hear an altercation taking place inside. A female then yelled out of the window that she was not going to allow officers inside of the residence. Fearing that a victim of some type of an assault was being held inside of the home, officers announced their presence and forced entry into the home to render assistance.

Once entry was made into the apartment, a male subject, later identified as Christian Farias, 19, of Manchester, approached an officer and punched the officer with a closed fist. Additional officers assisted in attempting to detain Farias, who continued to fight and struggle with officers. Farias was charged with assault on a police officer; resisting arrest/detention; and disorderly conduct.

While trying to place Farias in custody, two others attempted to pull the officers away from Farias in an attempt to keep the officers from detaining Farias. The two people, later identified as Sevon Edwards Gold, 22, of Boston, Mass., and Leona Lee Farrar, 40, continued to struggle with the officers. After a brief struggle, officers were able to detain both of them.

Gold was charged with hindering apprehension and resisting arrest/detention.

Farrar was charged with obstructing government administration; hindering apprehension; assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Officer Mark Ampuja said  those involved were “very uncooperative in providing information about the altercation,” and no victim came forward for assistance.

All three had bail set at $500 cash/surety and were scheduled too appear in court on Feb. 25, 2016.
