LAKELAND, Fla. – 2017 New Hampshire Fisher Cat Chris Rowley was the Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher in Spring Training action on Saturday. He also was on the hook for the loss, as Toronto fell 5-4 to Detroit.

The West Point graduate pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs off four hits, three of them earned.

Rowley was relieved by fellow 2017 Fisher Cat Justin Shafer, with Shafer getting the Blue Jays out of the second on just one pitch, forcing Leonys Martin into a double play.

At the plate among the recent Fisher Cats, Lourdes Gurriel, Danny Jansen, Roemon Fields and Tim Lopes each got hits in the loss.

The Blue Jays return to Dunedin on Sunday afternoon for a split squad rematch against Detroit.
