The “model” is one of twelve of us participating in Gemma’s eight-week, A Funny Workshop at Kimball Jenkins. We were instructed to bring a costume we felt ridiculous wearing. One by one we strut our stuff while the rest of the groups serve as the audience, delighting in the absurdity of it all. READ MORE
The 2023 Concord School District Youth Art Month Show is happening now at Kimball Jenkins, through April 12. The opening reception will take place March 9 from 5-6:30 p.m. and will feature live music from local high school bands, light food and fare and hundreds of works of art by Concord youth and young adults. A giant sycamore stands tall over the courtyard of the Kimball Jenkins where I am attending a life drawing class. At the end of the drive sits the classroom, an old carriage house converted into an art salon. I join about fifteen other people inside where we grab snacks and finger curiously an array of art supplies laid out on tables. READ MORE

Art started becoming more important to me when I began to use it as a way to combat my mental illnesses and disabilities. I was deemed permanently disabled after a pretty bad accident at the end of July, and all it took was for one woman forgetting to look both ways as she blew through a stop sign over the speed limit to take away a lot of my freedom. t was a beautiful autumn day Oct. 14in Arms Park for the Second Annual Disability Justice Parade, hosted by ABLE NH. Self-advocates, advocates, and supportive partners from organizations across New Hampshire marched down Commercial Street led by the Leftist Marching Band, holding signs with messages asking for equal rights and opportunities for all. Getting to be outside so often was a well-needed breath of fresh air. I got to really tap into my painting abilities when I was given a decent-sized surface to put my piece on. Now, to the viewer, these are just completed paintings, but to the artists, these are visual timelines from beginning to end of the internship. So many memories, adventures, conversations, and learning opportunities crammed into one month, partnered with new, restored, and strengthened bonds. READ MORE
