MANCHESTER, NH – A city man was arrested at approximately 5 p.m. on May 22, 2017 for waving a firearm while engaging in a neighbor dispute. Nicholas Chaney, 32, was inside of his Conant Street apartment when he heard his wife arguing with a neighbor inside of the first-floor common hallway.

Chaney allegedly stormed out of his second-floor apartment and walked downstairs toward the hallway. A 30-year-old woman and her 31-year-old fiancé had been arguing with Chaney’s wife  in the first floor hallway when Chaney got involved. The neighbor noticed Chaney was holding a handgun when he engaged in the argument, so she immediately retreated to her first-floor apartment. Her fiancé continued arguing with Chaney while she called police.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with all parties involved. They located a .40 caliber handgun inside of Chaney’s apartment. Chaney was placed into custody and charged with two counts criminal threatening (felonies). His CZ-USA .40 caliber firearm was placed into evidence.

Chaney is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on May 23, 2017 to answer the charge.
