manchester food co-opMANCHESTER, NH – The public is invited to join the Manchester Food Co-op Board of Directors for a “Design Your Store” meeting at City Hall, Jan. 14 from 5-7 p.m., to help move the project forward.

Although a location is not yet settled for the co-op, the plan is to begin working on the store layout. Co-op board member Steven Freeman will be contributing his design experience and lead this endeavor for the meeting.

Questions to be answered:
How can the co-op’s mission be best incorporated into the store layout? How can the feel of local NH be incorporated into the design? What are some departments that the public wants to include –  local goods only section in the storefront? Yellow brick road floor tiles? Kids activity area? Mini greenhouse in the window or inside/outside wall?

The Manchester Food Co-op is part of the greater New Hampshire and New England local food movement, and the organization is looking for best practices to represent the local community it is creating.

After the meeting, attendees can migrate to get some grub, like a co-op herd.

Still needed:

Someone with accounting skills and experience to join the Board as a volunteer.

The meeting will be held in the third-floor Aldermanic Chambers.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story reflected a wrong date. The correct event date is Jan. 14, according to an addendum from Manchester Food Co-op.
