A Hooksett man was arrested July 29, charged with criminal mischief related to alleged graffiti after a city police officer saw him jump from the roof of a Franklin Street bar.

According to police, Joseph Rockwell, 19, of Hooksett, was seen jumping from the roof of the Get-A-Way Lounge, 157 Franklin St., at about 1:30 a.m. by Manchester Police Officer Eric Joyal, who was on patrol.

Officer Joyal attempted to stop Rockwell, who fled on foot despite the officer calling for him to stop.

Officer Joyal continued to search for Rockwell as several officers responded and joined the search.  Rockwell was arrested after he was located hiding behind the Elm Street Shell Gas station in overgrown weeds and shrubbery.

Officer Joyal located several cans of spray paint and “fresh” graffiti on the side of the Get-A-Way Lounge just after Rockwell was arrested. He was charged with criminal mischief and resisting detention, both misdemeanor charges.
