MANCHESTER, NH — A fire at Burger King on South Willow Street Monday night closed the fast food restaurant temporarily.
An employee from the restaurant called in the fire, at first reporting smoke in the building. The employee was told to remove all customers as well as employees from the building.
Fire crews arrived within three minutes of the call and they found heavy fire coming from the roof and attic. South Willow Street was closed as crews stretched hoses across the street to feed Truck 1 and Truck 7, which were set up to access the roof. The fire was extinguished and brought under control in approx 20 minutes.
Tim Soucy, head of the Manchester Health Department, was called to the scene as normal protocol and has closed the restaurant. Soucy will meet with the management Tuesday to discuss the steps which must be taken, including disposing of all exposed food, and containers.
