Sad man turns on sympathetic lady, tries to grab her phone – she gives him a right hook and calls police

First he was crying, then combative. In the end, the victim prevailed.

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to a robbery call at 5:25 p.m. on June 26., at the corner of Union and Hanover streets. Officer Kyle Daly spoke with the the victim, a 45-year-old woman. The victim told Officer Daly she was walking her dogs when she came upon a man crying while resting on a concrete wall. The man was later identified as Michael Guyette, 47, of Manchester.

The woman was checking on Guyette’s condition when he suddenly stood up and gave her a “weird” look. She felt threatened so she pulled out her cell phone and attempted to call 911. Guyette grabbed her phone, and a brief struggle ensued. The women threw a right hook and struck Guyette in the temple. Her actions caused Guyette to flee,  as her phone fell on the ground. She picked up her damaged phone and contacted police.

Sgt. Patrick Houghton spotted Guyette on Pine Street minutes after the attempted robbery. He spoke with Officer Daly and ultimately placed Guyette into custody. He was charged with robbery and transported to police headquarters.

Guyette was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on June 27, 2017.
