MANCHESTER, NH – Queen City author Rob Greene, writing as R.W.W. Greene, is lending his words and voice to the nation-wide launch of “Writers Resist: The Anthology” this month.
Greene will read from his short story, “The Which in Waiting,” at a launch event 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at The Bookery in Manchester. The Manchester gala is one of several “Writers Resist” events scheduled around the United States in the next few weeks, including ones at Mysterious Gallery Books in San Diego and The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD.
The anthology, published Oct. 1 by Running Wild Press, began as an e-zine, WritersResist.com, created in December 2016 by editors Kit-Bacon Gressitt and Sara Marchant. The editors picked the anthology’s publication date to inspire readers to head to the polls for the midterm elections. Several writers from the Boston and Manchester area will share their work at The Bookery.
“Writers Resist includes writers and artists from around the globe, from the United States to Nigeria, Turkey to Britain to Brazil,” Gressitt said. “Many are well-published and well-known in literary, performance and other fields; many are new to writing — and new to activism, spurred on by a passion to challenge the current U.S. administration through literature and art.”
Gressitt, a former newspaper columnist and a gender-studies lecturer, is an award-winning writer, editor and teacher. Her work can be found in “Not My President: The Anthology of Dissent,” “Ducts,” “Trivia: Feminist Voices,” “The Missing Slate,” “Evening Street Review,” “Publisher’s Weekly,” the “San Diego Poetry Annual,” and “Chiron Review.”
Marchant’s work has been published by “Full Grown People,” “Brilliant FlashFiction,” “The Coachella Review,” “East Jasmine Review,” “ROAR,” and “Desert Magazine.” Her memoir, “Proof of Blood,” will be published by Otis Books in its 2018-19 season.
Greene is the former chair of the New Hampshire Writers’ Project. His fiction has been published in the “Bethlehem Writers Workshop,” “Metaphorosis,” and “Stupefying Stories,” among other places. He keeps a website at RWWGreene.com
“Writers Resist: The Anthology” will be available in bookstores and online for $19.99. Visit WritersResist.com for more information.
