Woman reports purse snatched from her lap while waiting in car for Macy’s to open

MANCHESTER, NH – At around 10 a.m. on June 3 police responded to Macy’s at the Mall of New Hampshire for a reported robbery of a purse.

The victim was an elderly woman who told police she was waiting in her car for the department store to open when a man reached into her car and grabbed her purse off her lap. The man did not show any weapons or say anything, but he ripped the purse from her grips with such force the strap broke off. The woman tried to follow him, but he was able to get into a light-colored sedan and drove off.

Not long after the incident took place, two men came into the Manchester Police Department reporting to have found a purse on Morey Street. Inside was the victim’s ID and credit cards. The woman later came in and positively identified the bag as hers.

Police are also looking to speak further with the two men who dropped off the purse. In the meantime, police are working on developing a lead on who snatched the purse, and are asking for the public’s help.

The man is described as a white man with darker skin, bald, clean shaven, approximately 150 pounds, possibly in his 30s or 40s.
