Woman knocks, asks for glass of water, allegedly steals firearm

MANCHESTER, NH – Maria Camacho, 36, of Manchester, was arrested Oct. 14 on a warrant charging her with felony theft in connection with the following incident.

According to a police narrative, on October 14 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Officer Stephen Irwin responded to a call at 622 Union St. where the resident reported the theft of his firearm. He told police a woman came to his door and asked for a glass of water and to use the bathroom. In the time it took him to walk into the kitchen and return, he noted his firearm left in the open was missing. The victim provided a description of the woman, including in particular large square bamboo earrings which she was wearing.

The victim, whose name is being withheld by Manchester Ink Link to protect his identity, identified the woman who came to his door as Maria Camacho through a photo line-up. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On October 15, Officers Warren Tanner and Jacob Yaris located Camacho, who was arrested without incident. During the arrest, Camacho was found to in possession of a controlled drug and also that she was currently out on bail with conditions.

Camacho was scheduled to be arraigned on October 17 in the 9th Circuit District Court Manchester to answer to the charges of theft by unauthorized taking; possession of a controlled drug; and violation of bail conditions.
