MANCHESTER, NH – Officer Matthew Blonigen responded to Wal-Mart, 725 Gold St., approximately 1 p.m. on March 9 for a shoplifting report. He spoke with the loss prevention officer about a woman who concealed items prior to leaving the store. Krystal Mello, 23, of Londonderry, allegedly concealed multiple items before leaving the store.

A loss prevention officer followed Mello out of the store and asked her to return with the items. She cooperated with the loss prevention officer and returned to the store. Officer Blonigen placed Mello into custody for theft by unauthorized taking. He located a loaded hypodermic needle (heroin) inside of her handbag prior to placing her in the transport wagon.

Mello attempted to conceal a small amount of crack cocaine while being searched inside of the booking area, so she was also charged with falsifying physical evidence and two counts of possession of a controlled drug. She is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on March 10, 2017.
