MANCHESTER, NHWMNH 95.3 FM announces the debut of Peter White & The Moose, the radio station’s first daily morning radio program.

After six years co-hosting the popular cable access TV show, “Manchsterdam,” co-hosts Peter White and Joel “The Moose” Elber say they are looking forward to making the transition radio. “Manchsterdam” which has been honored as Best Locally Produced Show by the Hippo Press’ Reader’s Choice Awards will wrap up production with its final episode on March 2.

The recognition during its run was remarkable for a TV show produced on a shoestring budget, says White.

Shifting gears will give the duo a chance to reconnect with listeners in a different way.

“The focus of Peter White & The Moose will be on Manchester,” White said. “Joel and I have always been unabashed boosters of the Queen City and the show will reflect that.” White said the tone of the show will be upbeat and positive.

Giving up “Manchsterdam” wasn’t an easy decision, but radio is where White got his start, with The Peter White Show, an online radio broadcast that first brought White and Elber together as a broadcasting duo.

“Radio is more intimate than TV,” White said, “which is why it’s such a vital medium 70 years after the arrival of television. It’s theater of the mind. You make a strong connection with the listener, who becomes more engaged than the TV viewer as they use their imagination to bring your words to life inside their heads.”

“This is my town,”  White said. “I was born and raised here and there’s no place I’d rather be. Our show will highlight Manchester’s culture, its history and – most importantly – its people.”

A native of Chelsea, Mass., who has lived in Manchester for 11 years, Joel Elber considers himself an adopted son of the city, and even ran for public office as a candidate for Ward 12 Alderman in the last municipal election.

“My dream is for me and Peter to have a radio show that not only does Manchester proud, but that actually sells the city we love to outsiders, whether they be from inside the Granite State or outside New Hampshire, or places in-between,” Elber said.

“What The Moose means,” said White, stepping into his ex officio role as Elber’s interpreter, “is that we want a visitor to Manchester, listening to Peter White & The Moose on the radio in their rental car or in their hotel, to think, ‘Gee, this is a place I’d really like to live.’”

“Everybody’s welcome on our show, just like everybody’s welcome in Manchester,” Elber said.

“Like The Moose says, in a way that only The Moose can say it, Manchester is a place that welcomes everyone. It’s a friendly place with a great sense of community spirit, where everybody helps everybody,” White said.

Earlier this month White and Elber had a chance to host WMNH-FM’s first live remote coverage of the New Hampshire Primary. Their work on “Radio Row” at Manchester’s Radisson Hotel earned them  kudos from listeners and pundits alike.

Peter White & The Moose, will air Monday through Friday from 7-9 a.m. beginning Monday, March 7, 2016. You can tune in via radio or live-stream it here.

WMNH is part of Manchester Public Television Service.
