READING, Pa. – Monarchs goaltender Charles Williams put up his second shutout of the season on Saturday as the Manchester Monarchs blanked the Reading Royals, 3-0.

Chris Carlisle’s first period goal ultimately was all the Monarchs would need for the win. While on the power play, Carlisle wristed a shot from the left circle past Reading goaltender Andrew D’Agostini, giving Carlisle his first goal of the season.

Spencer Watson added an insurance goal in the third period, with Nic Pierog adding another insurance goal after the Royals pulled D’Agostini in the final moments of the contest.

Williams ended the night with 33 saves to up his save percentage to .931 on the season. That puts him in a tie for the best save percentage in the league with Cincinnati’s Michael Houser according to the ECHL.

Carlisle’s power play goal also continued an upward trend in that department as well, with the Monarchs nearly doubling their power play efficiency over the past month, moving from 27th to 21st in the league while on the advantage.

The Monarchs return to action Sunday, February 3 at 2 p.m., when they take on the Reading Royals at Santander Arena.
