Charles Williams recorded his first professional shutout as the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Reading Royals 5-0 on Saturday night at SNHU Arena.

Manchester ended the night with over twice as many shots as the Royals, almost equaling Reading’s overall shot total (19) in the first period alone (16.)

Zac Lynch recorded two goals in the win to put in team lead with 11 so far this year. Joel Cameranesi, Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman and Joel Lowry also added goals in the win.

With the win, Manchester (14-7-1-1) climbs two points above Reading (13-8-2-0) to retain the top spot in the ECHL’s North Division.

They’ll seek to win their seventh straight game on Sunday at 3 p.m. with their second matchup of the weekend against the Norfolk Admirals.
