MANCHESTER – The Manchester Monarchs went from winning five straight to what is now a three-game losing streak following their 6-3 loss to Wheeling on Wednesday night.

Throughout the first two periods, Manchester struggled to keep up with Wheeling’s scoring barrage, tying up the game three times through the contest’s first 35 minutes.

But the Monarchs would be unable to respond to Marcus Basara’s blast 17:34 into the second period, with Ross McMullan and Cody Wydo adding insurance goals in the third period.

Basara also added an assist for the Nailers while Manchester got multi-point performances from Kevin Morris, Keegan Iverson and Francois Beauchemin.

The Monarchs are back in action Friday, March 3 (7 p.m.), at SNHU Arena, to take on the Adirondack Thunder.
