Business SpotlightMANCHESTER, NH – If you’re wondering what’s new in the world of downtown dining, we have the answer: Dealici, a Manchester-based company which has developed an app designed to help consumers share deals with friends and family to score higher meal discounts.

Free mobile app downloads for iOS and Android officially launched Jan 21, which means you can take Dealici for a spin right away and explore exclusive discounts on meals from your favorite local restaurants.

So what makes this app so different and exciting for food lovers?

According to Dealici, deals are available for use right away, during off-peak dining hours. Consumers get to beat the crowds and save money while local restaurants get to fill seats during slow times of the day. The app encourages users to share their deals with friends, family, and other contacts in order to score higher discounts. So, a 20 percent discount when purchased could turn into a 50 percent discount as more people buy the same deal.

Also, by referring people to the app, users accrue “dealici points” by sharing deals, which can later be redeemed as cash toward future meals, creating a cost-efficient way of trying out new restaurants and tasty dishes, all while knowing you’re getting the biggest and best discount for being flexible.

Below is a Q&A with Dealici founder Vineet Bansal.

Q: Dealici sounds like a great idea, if it means money-saving deals for consumers. What is ”double-sided technology” and what makes Dealici different from other diner reward apps, like Groupon?

“Double-sided technology” is just a technical term that means the dealici app has two sets of customers. 1) Restaurants who are adding the deals and 2.) End consumers who are purchasing the deals.

Dealici is different from other reward programs for a few reasons.

Dealici is all about saving 25-50 percent at local restaurants. We strictly deal with restaurants. That means we can focus on building strong relationships with our restaurant partners without spreading ourselves thin, and we can create meaningful promotions and contests that appeal to the restaurant crowd.

Unlike Groupon, everyone at a table in a restaurant can use their own dealici deal. (Groupon limits one per table.) When you also consider that our discounts are equal or greater than Groupon discounts, it’s clear that our system offers powerful savings.

More the Merrier — this is the best part: When more people buy the same deal, the price drops for everyone, including the earlier buyers (who receive the refund so everyone pays the lowest price). Sharing deals is made simple in the app, so users can tell their friends, invite them along, and drive down the price.

Redeeming a voucher does not require any paper or printouts (again, unlike Groupon). When you redeem your voucher, you show your server a short-term code. Everything is done right from your phone.

Dealici is strictly a mobile platform for users, so there’s no website component to purchase deals.

Q: How many restaurant partners does Dealici have right now, and will there be more coming in Manchester? Are there other cities/states where I can I use my Dealici app?

Presently we have 18 restaurant partners, but this is by design. Because of the price-dropping feature, we have to limit the number of restaurants that join our platform so there is opportunities for deals to become better. We have dozens more restaurants clamoring to join, but if we allow too many, users will spread out their purchasing and no one will get the best deal. We plan to add 15-20 more restaurants in Feb./March

Dealici is available in Manchester, Nashua and Portsmouth. We also expect be venturing south toward Boston in Q2 of 2016.

Q: How do I know my private information is secure, including my social media accounts, if I’m sharing deals with friends and family online?

Using Dealici is 100 percent safe and secure. Dealici uses Braintree (a Paypal company) for secured checkout. Dealici neither sees nor stores any credit card information on its platform. Information is only maintained by Braintree. This is the most secure system available. We do not save or store any customer social media information.

Q: I like that points can be earned and redeemed like cash. How does that work?

Many “actions” you take within the app will reward you with Dealici cash. You can earn points for sharing your deals on Facebook, Twitter, and via email. You earn cash whenever you redeem a deal in a restaurant. You can also earn a significant amount of cash by referring a friend (who makes a purchase). This cash is added directly to your account and can be spent on future deals. It’s like being paid in food to use our app.

Q: So, who’s idea was Dealici anyway, and how (and when) did the business start?

Dealici grew out of an idea from co-founders and entrepreneurs Vineet and San Bansal, who both love food and have a commitment to helping small businesses succeed.

Vineet says he also has long thought about ways to give consumers a tool for community bargaining power. Hence, the concept of “More the Merrier,” where the price drops when the community gets together and makes more purchases. Not only does the consumer save money, Dealici also helps the restaurants, as they are able to use their fixed cost even better.

Q: Does Dealici work with Android? If not, when can we expect that to happen?

Yes, Dealici is available for both Android and iOS. [Click here to download]

Q: How long do I have to use a Dealici deal? Do they expire? Are there new deals every day?

Deals are time-sensitive. Restaurants create deals based on whatever criteria is right for their business. Often the redemption window is 3-7 days wide and available at specific times. For example, Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester might offer a deal that starts at 25 percent off (with a potential of 50 percent off) that must be redeemed January 21 – 31, between the hours of 11 a.m and 5 p.m. Many restaurants are offering deals for all day on Mon.-Wed., as those days are typically slow times for them.

It is possible to miss your redemption window, but you NEVER lose your money. Whatever you spend is always available to be used at the restaurant. But if you miss your window, you won’t get advantage of the promotional price.

Restaurants can put deals up at any time, so yes, there are new deals every day. Restaurants can offer multiple types of deals and they can decide what quantities of each deal they want to offer.

Q: What else should I know about using Dealici?

Dealici is great for businesses, too. Restaurants have fixed costs that they need to meet. In the restaurant industry, business comes in waves, so restaurant managers have a hard time gauging how much revenue they’ll generate. By getting more people during slow times, restaurants will be able to manage staffing levels a bit better.

Many of our restaurant partners are quality businesses without fancy marketing budgets, so they benefit from our promotions on social media, our website, through email, and of course, within the app.
